The Deck - Work Weekend 2

We got the opportunity to work on the deck again this weekend! Here is a couple shots to show how it went down:

Middle of Saturday Afternoon
This tricky corner took most of Saturday afternoon to get it just right. Something about the angles not being perfectly square. Tony was super cool to hang out for awhile Saturday and help out. Also, note the green mossy stuff on the brick. Nothing a little oxyclean, a spackle knife, and some elbow grease (and scrub brush) couldn't handle. This and some organization/clean up were about my only contributions.
Pete started digging holes for the Star Jasmine Vines. During the week, he added eye hooks and wire for the vines to grow onto.
Fast Forward to End of Day Sunday - Can you believe the progress? Everything was much faster after that corner was done. Vines are planted as well. It sure looks like a deck to me!! Who really needs stairs anyway? : )
Sunday night we had our first dinner outside to enjoy all Pete's hard work. (Pete's sweet idea) It was so fun. I couldn't stop talking about how excited I was. (Notice no more green scum on brick - still wet after it's scrub down.)
Still to do:
  1. Frame stairs
  2. Add two board border around perimeter
  3. Attach decking to stairs
  4. Attach lattice above the fence to increase privacy between us and our neighbors
  5. Plant last two vines
  6. Keep enjoying! (I ate breakfast out there this morning too!)
Isn't Pete a stud?! I'm so proud of his hard work! It was a super productive weekend, so get ready people, we're about to have a finished deck to hang out on in no time!
