Now that the kitchen in nearly complete, and the weather here has been beautiful, we're able to finally start turning our attention to the outside. We both love to spend time in the sunshine, but although we have lots of outdoor space, most of it needs to be reclaimed for civilization. The plan is to start in the back corner of our lot and work our way around the house towards the front.
One of the many quirks of our house is the lack of traditional fencing around the perimeter. There is a short three foot chain link separating our yard from the neighbor behind us, but it leaves a lot of privacy to be desired. From our living room and the two spare bedrooms it has been possible to see into several of the neighbors windows as well as look onto the street. Solution: Installing a new 6' fence!
It was a lot of hard work, but we managed to get is started this weekend with the help of my dad and Annette. First, enough brush needed to be cleared to dig post holes, and to maneuver around to install the fencing. Next, the backs of all the new pickets needed to be weather proofed before installation, as doing so afterward would be next to impossible. Finally, after the framing was installed, the pickets went up and a new gate was created. By the end of the weekend, we were able to install enough fencing to provide privacy for all three of our windows. We're so happy with the results! It's a great start of things to come for our backyard.

So happy with our progress!
Thanks Dad and Annette for all your help!
