Tomato Project

I started with six baby plants which I planted all in one pot. I had no idea how big they were going to get.Mom laughed when I told her what I had done and recommended I give a couple away. I found happy homes for four of them with Elizabeth and Kirsten, and then bought a second pot.
Look how massive they became--and these are just baby tomatoes!
Also, check out the new basil plant. It's so cool to just pick some off the patio whenever I need it.
And now this weekend, they're starting to turn red.
I can't wait to make something with them!

Introducing the latest addition to our plant family

Look at this beauty! It's a Bromeliad from my new favorite supermarket, Fresh and Easy.
Now our Peace Lily has an indoor friend.

Baby Plant Expirement

I've been told by several credible sources that I can simply cut a clipping or two from my existing succulent plants, stick them in dirt, and they will grow new plants. I have to admit that I'm pretty skeptical as it seems way to good to be true, but it's worth a try. If it works, this little baby is moving into my kitchen to replace my dear deceased bromeliad. If it doesn't, it sure looks pretty cute in the meantime.

I am super into plants right now. They seem to really liven up a space. I love that the plants on our patio can be seen from most anywhere in our apartment. My current wish list includes several new indoor plants, and maybe some seeds or a bulb to plant in the other little green pot I just purchased.

Do you keep live plants in your home?

Look what I got!

I know my Granny will be so happy that I'm this excited about plants. A green thumb runs through the family and I'm hoping I might have it too. Just in case though, I'm starting small.

First, I got two houseplants. (The Peace lily is going strong, but the bromilliade had a little accident in the kitchen involving a dish and decapitation.) Oh well, at least it wasn't from a lack of watering.

Next, I got a Rosemary plant from our local Farmer's Market. It smells so fresh and I love being able to cook with something that I grew.

And now, presenting my latest additions...Succulents! Peter got me the cool rose paddle plant in the brown pot. Dad, you got me the grape-looking one in the front green pot (Donkey Tail). And then I got the two big ones in the back and the aloe plant with birthday money from Granny. Now my rosemary plant has patio friends!

Next step: Bulbs!

Have you tried to grow anything? and if so, what color is your thumb?
