Three cheers for the birthday boy!

On Sunday, we held an impromptu birthday party for Peter. His parent's were coming through town and Tony and Kirsten came out to help us celebrate. Tony lured Peter out of the house for a quick game of golf, leaving us a little time to decorate and bake his cake. (You can't see it in the picture, but there are streamers overhead as well, in red, white, and blue, making for a festive yet unintended patriotic feel. : )
We also put together a pretty decent meal... some tri-tip, chicken, roasted red potatoes with rosemary, fresh peaches and strawberries from the Farmer's market, and a great salad that Kirsten brought. We even got to break out some of our fun new dishes and add the leaf to the table to accommodate six. Plus, here's a quick shot of Pete's cake with 24 candles, making it the last year that one box will do.
Happy Birthday Peter! Looking forward to another wonderful year. : )

P.S. Thanks everyone for the birthday cards, phone calls, messages, and signs. They really made the day feel special!

Looks like you had a great celebration. I wish we were there to join in. Sounds like a great dinner.
